Everglades National Park Wildlife & Beach Expedition
First, enjoy a quiet and leisurely boat tour through the Everglades National Park's Ten Thousand Islands coastal ecosystem. Your naturalist guide will be on the hunt for all types of wildlife. Every day and every tour is different...but depending on the season and the day's conditions, you may encounter dolphins, manatees, roseate spoonbills, pelicans, ospreys, eagles, ibis, herons, egrets, multitudes of sea and shore birds, sea turtles and other saltwater creatures.
Your guide wants this to be an intimate experience , so each boat is limited to just six passengers. With comfortable seating, the boat is a very stable platform for wildlife birding and photography - plenty of room for a tripod and large lenses. No airboats! Airboats are not allowed in the Park where this tour operates due to their impact on the wildlife and the environment.
After the boating tour and as conditions allow, your captain will lead you on an interpretive stroll on one of the Park's many uninhabited barrier island beaches. These remote islands can only be accessed by boat so relatively few people ever set foot where you will go. Expect to see a natural, undisturbed Florida beach, strewn with shells...likely more shells than you have ever seen. There are lots of hands-on learning opportunities in and around the tidal flats, tidal pools, wrack-lines and beach dunes.
See Covid-19 Procedures below.

Covid-19 Procedures
Certainly, these are challenging times. As such, these experiences have been adapted for the duration of the crisis. Please know that:
- All boats, kayaks and gear are washed/sanitized before each tour.
- Hand sanitizers and hand washing stations are available to all guests. You are asked to please use them before the tour for your safety and the staff's.
- Tours are operating under a strict "no-touch" policy, so please excuse the staff for not shaking hands.
- Your guide will be wearing face covering and all guests are asked to do the same.
- Most important, staff will try to conduct your tour privately so that there will be no mixing of groups; in the instances where that's not possible, appropriate distancing will be maintained throughout the tour.
Please Note
The Calusa Indians inhabited these islands for thousands of years before modern settlers arrived. Both had to carve out a subsistence living in the Everglades wilderness. Generally, most visitors would not recognize the signs of these long-vanished peoples; however, your naturalist guide will show them to you. It can be quite awe-inspiring to hold in your hand a relic from a person that may have lived thousands of years before you.
Please know that while you can view the wildlife, shells, artifacts, etc. you will be in a National Park and nothing can be removed.
What to Bring
- You will need to bring your personal items and whatever you wish to eat and drink. The boat will have an iced cooler for your drinks and snacks.
- It is suggested you bring hats, polarized sunglasses, jackets (appropriate for the day's weather condition on an open boat), binoculars and cameras.
- Please be sure to bring protective footwear that you do not mind getting wet, or even muddy. Flip-flop type sandals are not appropriate.
- Bug spray is sometimes a good idea if it is warm.
