Mangrove Tunnel Kayak & Canoe Tour in the Everglades
The Mangrove Tunnel Kayak Eco Tour in the Everglades is a scenic paddle ride through a vast and varied ecosystem containing the largest mangrove forest in North America.
This Everglades nature tour takes you through the mangrove forest, which grows to the very edge and even over the tops of the waterways, forming a natural canopy or tunnel. The sunlight shimmering through the canopy, the stillness of the forest vegetation and the sounds of the forest itself, make for a surreal and mystical experience.
Please Note: This tour departs from Everglades City, Florida (located approximately 30 miles from Marco Island, 36 miles from Naples and 84 miles from Fort Myers).

Covid-19 Procedures
Certainly, these are challenging times. As such, these experiences have been adapted for the duration of the crisis. Please know that:
- All boats, kayaks and gear are washed/sanitized before each tour.
- Hand sanitizers and hand washing stations are available to all guests. You are asked to please use them before the tour for your safety and the staff's.
- Tours are operating under a strict "no-touch" policy, so please excuse the staff for not shaking hands.
- Your guide will be wearing face covering and all guests are asked to do the same.
- Most important, staff will try to conduct your tour privately so that there will be no mixing of groups; in the instances where that's not possible, appropriate distancing will be maintained throughout the tour.
About the Park
The Everglades area is a vast and varied ecosystem containing the largest mangrove forest in North America. Throughout the forest are brackish "lakes" whose waters are a mix of "sweet" fresh water and salt water. This is part of what makes the Everglades so special. These lakes, surrounded by mangroves, are refuges and nursery grounds for herons, egrets, stilts, ducks, wood storks, spoonbills, alligators, otters and countless species of fish.
What to Bring
- You will need to bring your personal items and whatever you wish to eat and drink. The boat will have an iced cooler for your drinks and snacks.
- It is suggested you bring hats, polarized sunglasses, jackets (appropriate for the day's weather condition on an open boat), binoculars and cameras.
- Please be sure to bring protective footwear that you do not mind getting wet, or even muddy. Flip-flop type sandals are not appropriate.
- Bug spray is sometimes a good idea if it is warm.
- Please bring at least 1 liter of water per person as hydration is very important.
